Hi, I’m Jen.

Hi, I’m Jen and I’m therapist working in RI and MA. I am a licensed mental health counselor and a registered expressive arts therapist. I am trained in EMDR therapy, a somatic trauma treatment.

I am energized by awe, and humbled by sorrow. I love working within the nuance of the human experience, all the many feelings that exist at once. I am a tender, enthusiastic person, and I am rooting for you.

I went to college at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University, where I got my BFA. At that time, my art practice centered around reduction woodcut, and sculpture. At Tufts I studied psychology and gender studies. I loved art school, and the unusual life that came with it. After college, I spent many years teaching art around Boston, making and showing art as well. I made work about gender inequality, constructed gender binaries, and systematically compartmentalized bodies. Aside from my passion for creating, I began to notice that my real nurturing was coming from the dialogues I was having with people about the artwork.

I was convinced I would go back to school to get my MFA, art school all over again. But instead, I followed what I always knew to be true in me, a deep curiosity to really know people, to be a human being with another human being. I honored this thirst and it lead me eventually to Lesley University for my masters in clinical mental health counseling with a specializing in expressive arts therapies. Those three years in grad school then lead me to crisis and acute care, emergency departments and outpatient mental health counseling in domestic violence and sexual assault.

And we are now, several years later.
